WE NEED YOUR ADVICE

Have you been to Alaska?  What are the "must experience" places we should try to see?  Of course, for Carol there should probably be a high likelihood of seeing bears.  But suggestions based on scenery, other critters, etc. are also welcome.  Because this is our first trip, we want to make sure we use the time we have wisely.  We're not able to travel everyday trying to "see it all."  Instead, we need to stay at least a few days each place we go.  Given all of that, any suggestions and inside tips you might have will be greatly appreciated.

We were hoping to leave on the 1st, but the 3rd is now probably the earliest we will leave (and that would take a small miracle).

YELLOWSTONE TRIAL RUN

Because gas prices were getting so high earlier in the year, we decided to fix up the Scion for the trip to Alaska.  By the time summer arrived, gas prices were going down, but we had locked ourselves into taking the Scion.  We got it fixed up and made a trial run to Yellowstone for two weeks.   We left the second week in June and stayed the whole time at Tower Falls campground.  Bill Hamlin and Lauri Darrah were there when we arrived and they got us up to speed fast.  We figured out that we had not been to Yellowstone in something like 22 years.  Noticed a couple of big changes.  The grizzlies tended to be seen mainly in the Lamar Valley as opposed to the places we used to see them.  Then there were the wolves that weren't there the last time we were there.  Carol got hooked.  I'm still not all that excited about them.  We'll see how long it lasts for Carol because, while she likes watching them, she doesn't like seeing animals kill other animals.  A grizzly cub was killed by the Mollies while we were there.  They had killed the sow's other cub just before we got there.  Carol was able to handle hearing about it.  I'm not sure she could handle seeing it happen.  We did see lots of grizzlies, wolves, and other critters.  Saw our first badgers and got some decent pictures and video.  We were asked to host there next summer and we are thinking about it.  It would be fun, but it is not the type of hosting we usually do.
